Grown up fears

My 12 year old brother said:

"Once I learned
how
to
swallow
pills,
I felt like
an
adult"

innocence made me think
about what I was afraid of

what if kids feel like adults are just trying to get by?
swallowing sorrows and troubles away
a pill at a time

I don't want to be that adult.
I don't
but
I fear I will
be

  1. Every case is different, but everybody "gets sick" and needs to take a pill every once in a while. I just hope to god I don't get addicted to whatever that pill is..

  2. Grown up is betting everything on pills and expecting to feel better. There's a pill for everything now, and that scares me.

  3. You are strong.
    You are creative.
You are what adults are trying to change,
trying to morph into what they want you to be.

Do not give up your freedom to the sanctum of those ever so small pills. But rather think of them like a train ticket. They may help you carry on, but ultimately they will never take you where you want to go on their own, and they will never change course. Fight to dream without their grasp tied around your fragile mind.

    Sorry... its late.
